Unit Overview

Cooper University Hospital, the clinical campus of Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, is the leading provider of health services to Southern New Jersey. Cooper’s main hospital is located in Camden, NJ, right across the river from Philadelphia. Cooper also has satellite offices in the surrounding suburbs, including Cherry Hill, Moorestown, Voorhees, and Washington Township with a surgery center based in Voorhees.

 

The Division of Urology at Cooper University Hospital is an expanding program with 11 surgeons who function in a team-based atmosphere.  The Division of Urology is committed to the recruitment of a diverse group of physicians and all candidates, regardless of race, gender, color, or creed are encouraged to apply for this position.

Short Description

The Department of Surgery at Cooper University Hospital is seeking to hire a full-time, fellowship-trained Urologic Oncologic Surgeon.  The successful candidate should be a highly motivated individual with interests and capabilities in all aspects of medical and surgical Urologic Oncology with an interest in analyzing patient's medical history, physical condition, and examination results to verify the operation’s necessity and to determine best procedure.  Follow established surgical techniques during operations. Operates on patients to correct deformities, repair injuries, prevent and treat diseases, or improve or restore patient's functions. Perform all the elective, urgent and emergent functions of the specialty.

Education Requirements

The candidate must also have recognized skills in the education of trainees, including but not limited to, Medical Students, Residents, and Fellows.

 

Fellowship trained in Urologic Oncology with an emphasis on robotic and minimally invasive surgery.

Experience Required

Provide surgical treatment for genitourinary pathology including major and minor procedures of the abdomen, pelvis, and retroperitoneum, prostate, bladder, adrenal, testis, penile and ureteral cancer, robotic surgery.  Refer patients to medical specialists or other practitioners when necessary. 

License/Certification Requirements

The successful candidate must hold an MD degree and be board certified/eligible by the American Board of Urology.

Must obtain NJ Medical License.

Special Requirements

Provide consultation and surgical assistance to other physicians and surgeons.  Ensure personal qualities such as emotional stability, dependability, positive relations with community staff, adherence to ethical standards, eliciting cooperation, attendance/participation in clinic meetings and peer councils.
